HEDGES, Charles Henry January 10, 1929 - April 6, 2018 Passed peacefully, surrounded by his family at home on Friday, April 6, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Joan Katherine Hedges (née Casey). He also leaves behind his seven children: Brian Hedges (Beverley), Heather Dougall (Graham), Marnie Magna (Barry), Patti Edwards (Terry), Sharon Dibblee (Tom), Colleen Ford (Brian) and Terri Thorhauge. He loved his 13 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Charles, better known as Chuck, was originally from Harrow where many of his 10 siblings still reside. In his 89 mischievous years of life, Chuck has touched the lives of many. It is his wish that all remember his humour and antics, and though the odd tear will be shed, he would appreciate that thoughts of him produce smiles.
Thanks to the amazing Palliative Team that made it possible for Chuck to finish his days at home as he wished. Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life held at CAPITAL FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY 3700 Prince of Wales Drive 613-692-1211 on Wednesday, April 11 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., with Tributes and Toasts at 1:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, Chuck requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army or the charity of your choosing. Sincere condolences to the family. I was his secretary in the Broadcast Certification Division of the Dept. of Communications back in the 1970's and have always remembered Mr. Hedges' fondly. He was a great boss, always had a big smile and a wonderful sense of humour. Janet Horton 10 April 2018
Chuck was a long-time DOT/DOC employee having served in the far North from 1963-1964 at Clyde River. He was DOS-PA when he retired from DOC. John Gilbert 20 April 2018
